Mediator and attorney William H. Donahue, Jr., Esq., APM, is a master at helping people resolve their divorce issues in a civil manner, so they can get on with their lives. He founded Transitions Mediation Center in 1995 to address the growing need for mediation services in the Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey area, as an alternative to expensive, time-consuming, and emotionally draining litigation.

As an expert in mediation, Donahue helps couples use mediation to settle their divorces and preserve the key relationships in their lives, especially those with children. He specializes in a wide range of mediation services including family mediation, divorce mediation, high-conflict cases and child custody cases.

Donahue is a nationally recognized speaker on family mediation and is featured on television and radio programs as an expert in mediation discussing the benefits of mediation as an important, but still underutilized, form of dispute resolution. His book, Reconcilable Differences: A Consumer's Guide to Divorce Mediation, provides an easy, non-technical approach to explain the basic principles underlying divorce mediation.

As a lawyer, he is uniquely qualified to help clients navigate mediation services within the legal system. Admitted to practice law in 1984 in New Jersey and in Pennsylvania in 1989, Donahue also maintains a private litigation practice in Southern New Jersey. His law practice includes divorce and family law, domestic violence, and post-divorce cases.

Donahue, Jr., grew up in Cape May and still serves clients from the Jersey Shore, in addition to serving clients in his current office in Collingswood, NJ, and the surrounding area of Camden County, Burlington County, Gloucester County, Salem County, Cumberland County and Atlantic County in New Jersey, and the Philadelphia/Delaware Valley area.

Community Involvement

Donahue contributes to the New Jersey mediation community as a member of the New Jersey Association of Professional Mediators (NJAPM), the only statewide association of professional mediators. He was vice president of NJAPM and served on the Board of Directors, as well as chairing the association's Peer Consultation and Youth committees.

He was a founder and president of the NJAPM Foundation dedicated to funding peacebuilding programs in schools throughout the state. Additionally, he chaired the New Jersey Youth Peace Building Coalition.

Donahue’s decades of experience as a mediator and attorney and his active community involvement enable Transitions Mediation Center to offer clients a wealth of local resources when navigating family and divorce mediation by providing references to other local experts like parenting and divorce coaches, therapists, financial analysts and mortgage brokers.
